Gardening

One way to ensure that you and your family have fresh vegetables in your diet is to grow them yourself.

In the backyard of the President's House, we grow tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, beans, and a variety of herbs. I often collect vegetables and clip herbs in the early morning. That's when I plan our daily menu, before the duties of the day take over.

When we have a bumper crop of something, we donate what we can't eat to the Harvest Hope Food Bank.

There are a number of vegetable gardens on campus, including a student-run garden at West Quad. West Quad is a residence hall that is also known as "Green Quad" because of its sustainability programs.
